#The Breaking Point
My SDRs were spending 6 hours a day manually checking websites to see if they were a fit for our services. They were essentially behaving like human web crawlers—visiting each site, inspecting the design, checking the tech stack, looking for obvious issues. The conversion rate was terrible because humans make mistakes, rush their work, and hate repetitive manual research.
#The Flaw in Traditional B2B Data
Traditional B2B data platforms are excellent at telling you who works at a company. But they're not designed to tell you why that company needs your specific service. They provide static firmographics: “Tech company, 50 employees, Series A.”
But the trigger event that actually causes a sale isn't a funding round. The trigger event is a failing mobile checkout flow, an outdated website that's costing them customers, or a missed SEO opportunity that a competitor is exploiting.
#Building the Solution
I realized that if I could automate the “website inspection” phase—the hours my team spent manually evaluating prospects—and combine it with intelligent scoring, I could replace an entire manual research workflow with a tool that delivers ready-to-pitch opportunities. That was the genesis of PROSPECTORI.
